On September 15th in the wee small hours of a cold windy Austin evening our friend and neighbor Terry Ellen Pierce left us in tears. She had a great laugh, a beautiful toothy smile and a quirky sense of humor. Her love of coffee and chocolate rivaled my own. When we browsed through clothing catalogs it was not just a pastime it was an event that included much coffee, debate and laughter.
Laughter is what I will remember most about Terry. Her laugh bubbled up from her tiny toes and erupted in the room like a living thing. It was a bug you didn’t mind catching completely infectious and wonderful.
She was pretty. I was always a bit jealous of her clear fresh skin that needed no makeup to enhance it. She didn’t age like the rest of us; she was always young and ‘pretty in pink’ her favorite color. We even had a special name for a certain shade of the color…Mopsy Pink. I am sure Michael’s will be carrying it any day now.
